What is Love INC?

Love INC is a partnership of churches helping people with a hand up during difficult times.  Life gets difficult at times for everyone and we want the church to be there.  Our Call Center receives calls for help from just about anyone you could think of.  Many of the calls are from people with circumstances out of their control and just need that extra help to make it through.  We get call from veterans, foster children, fire loss, elderly, disabled, domestic violence, people going through cancer treatments, homeless and now those who have lost their income due to the virus.  This past year the Clearinghouse screened almost 3,000 calls for assistance with over 90% of those referrals came from 47 local agencies and area churches.

Love INC works with churches to identify gaps within social service agencies and help coordinate church volunteers to meet physical needs that may not part of a typical outreach in our community.  The approach is holistic and we train church volunteers to look beyond a caller’s physical needs to remind them of their intrinsic value regardless of their current circumstances.

We get a lot of calls from people who are fearful of this new normal, many without current employment and are looking for ways to put food on the table, make a car payment, or pay rent.

As we walk each caller through the application process, our volunteers are listening to learn about their specific situation.  We do not offer cash assistance however; we discuss a variety of potential scenarios to help them figure out ways they can meet their immediate needs.  We ask leading questions to help them think outside the box about their situation.  I.e. If we can get you to a local pantry for personal care items and food, will that free up money for your car payment?  Did you know that XXX company is hiring and we can get you gas cards until you get your first check?  Many times our callers need that calming reassuring voice just to begin to start thinking clearly.  Our process wouldn’t be complete without spending time with them in prayer.  We even have people call us back just so we can pray with them again.

We had just launched (temporarily suspended) community classes to address everyday issues that we all face, such as money management skills, relational patterns, and who we are in Christ.  We believe that in order to have a lasting impact in a person’s life, it is vital to invest in people relationally over time.

Our church partners meet their neighbor’s needs through food, personal care items, furniture, appliances, bedding, gas cards, dog & cat food, towels, kitchenware, cleaning products, curtains and a free legal clinic (each of the ministries also accepts donations).

Dump in the Truck will focus on personal care items to distribute in 4 church pantry locations throughout the area.
