Matthew 27
Devotional:
Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit. 51 At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. (Matt. 27:50-51a).
An enormous, thick curtain separated the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place. Only the high priest was permitted to go beyond the curtain into the Most Holy Place, and he could do so only on the Day of Atonement (see Hebrews 9:2-7). But at the very moment Jesus died, providing the perfect sacrifice for our sins and restoration of our relationship with God, He opened the way for us – the lowest of the low – to approach the throne of God, not just one day a year, but at any time, in freedom and confidence (Hebrews 10:19-22)! Friend, this is the single greatest privilege imaginable — one that should be exercised continually. May we utilize this tremendous privilege.

Pray it:
Father, thank you for opening the pathway to directly call upon you through Jesus. Help me cherish this wonderful gift and come to you often, fervently, and joyfully. Amen.
