Pslam 51

Devotional:
Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you. (Psalm 51:12).

Joy is not always an easy emotion to maintain, especially when sin creeps in and fills us with guilt and shame. Sin, it seems, always draws us away from joy. Thankfully, that’s the whole point of salvation — we need a Savior because we can’t overcome sin on our own. Even when we mess up and sin drains our joy, God is waiting to restore us and remind us that He turns sorrow to joy. Let God transform your misery. Ask Him for help; ask Him for a willing spirit that turns you from sin into joyful remembrance of just how far Jesus was willing to go to save you.
Pray it:
Father, I confess that I seek joy in other places instead of in you and my salvation. Thank you for forgiving me of those wrong pursuits and for giving me a clean heart and true joy when I turn to you in the name of Jesus. Amen.
