1 Samuel 6

Devotional:
“Send the Ark of the God of Israel back with a gift,” they were told. “Send a guilt offering so the plague will stop. Then, if you are healed, you will know it was his hand that caused the plague.” (I Samuel 6:3)

The Philistines did not get it right, yet God still used their ignorance to accomplish His purposes. The priests called upon the absolute wrong people for advice, and their instructions were not in line with the mandatory handling of the Ark (mice are unclean and the transport method was not sanctioned). Yet, God in His mercy used their flawed method to carry on His means. When done in the right spirit, God honors our intentions. God knows we are flawed, but He also deciphers the heart that chases after Him. We may get it wrong sometimes, but let us not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9) for His glory!
Pray it:
Father, I confess that I have not treated you and your name with the respect and honor that you deserve. Thank you for sending Jesus to be my sin offering, to heal me from my guilt and to allow me to be reconciled to you. Amen.
