1 Samuel 18
Devotional:
And Jonathan made a solemn pact with David, because he loved him as he loved himself. (I Samuel 18:3)
Instead of being grateful for the friendship formed between Jonathan and David, it enraged and escalated Saul’s jealousy, envy and paranoia. He did everything within his power to manipulate and rid the nation of David. But God showed up! Not only did God spare David’s life time and again, He blessed it abundantly! No matter how we maneuver and calculate for certain outcomes, absolute control is beyond us. Let go of the myth of being independent and surrender yourself to God’s plan for you. Surrender isn’t a move of the weak – it is a move of the wise. God’s plan is higher and better than any plan you could construct for your life.
