1 Samuel 30

Devotional:
David was now in great danger because all his men were very bitter about losing their sons and daughters, and they began to talk of stoning him. But David found strength in the Lord his God. (I Samuel 30:6)

When David arrived back at his base, everything was taken – including his wives. The city was burned; there was nothing left. The grief was great and David carried the blame for this catastrophic tragedy. Others also blamed him for what happened. Everything and everyone was against him. While it may be our first response to get even and settle the score, David did not act hastily. He stopped. He drew his strength from the Lord and inquired of Him. Today, when you feel the adrenaline rush to make right how you’ve been wronged . . . STOP! Ask the Lord for His leading. His way is the best way!
Pray it:
Father, when I am tempted to get bitter because of things that happened in life, help me to find strength in you and come out a better person who lifts others up rather than brings others down. Amen.
