2 Samuel 7

Devotional:
“How great you are, O Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you. We have never even heard of another God like you! (2 Samuel 7:22)

Out of David’s great love for the Lord flows the idea to build Him a permanent dwelling, which to us sounds like quite a noble idea. However, God didn’t need David to build Him new digs nor did He desire it. David’s purpose was to be a fighter, not a builder, and God shows him in the most generous way who the true Builder is as He promises that He will build a dynasty (a house) for David that will endure further. As we see God’s dramatic display of generous, extravagant love in David’s life, take a stroll down memory lane and take stock of how God has fulfilled His promises to you.
Pray it:
Father, everything in this world belongs to you, so no amount of sacrifice or service could measure up to what you already have or reflect how truly awesome you are. Thank you for being a generous God who makes promises and bestows gifts upon His people and has been so good to me. Amen.
