2 Samuel 8

Devotional:
He placed army garrisons throughout Edom, and all the Edomites became David’s subjects. In fact, the Lord made David victorious wherever he went. So David reigned over all Israel and did what was just and right for all his people. (2 Samuel 8:14-15)

David’s practice as king was to destroy the idolatrous nations who rebelled against his rule. He was victorious in conquering lands from north to south and from west to east. In doing so, his name and fame became great, and his territory increased as the Lord gave him victory after victory. Have you claimed the spaces where you live, work and play for the Lord? Have you removed all non-God-honoring things from your territory? How do you rule the realm in which God has placed you? Do you practice with both justice and equity?
Pray it:
Father, your kingdom and rule is marked by justice and equity. As I pray, “your kingdom come,” enable me to walk in these ways and reflect your rule in my life to the world, crying out for the justice and flourishing that only you can bring. Amen.
