2 Samuel 11
Devotional:
Late one afternoon, after his midday rest, David got out of bed and was walking on the roof of the palace. As he looked out over the city, he noticed a woman of unusual beauty taking a bath. (2 Samuel 11:2)
David was supposed to be leading in battle, as this was a king’s responsibility. However, he stayed back. His choice and idleness leads to a myriad of mistakes: lustful thoughts, misuse of power, sexual sin and murder. This is an essential reminder to us of the destructive power of temptation and sin. What do you do when you have time on your hands? You might not be coveting your neighbor’s spouse, but you might be mindlessly scrolling on your device just killing time, which might be killing your soul. While technology has simplified our lives, it also has the power to destroy our lives. Be careful and be mindful, especially when you find yourself bored with a few spare minutes.
