Joshua 15
Devotional:
Caleb drove out the three groups of Anakites—the descendants of Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, the sons of Anak. (Joshua 15:14)
Poetic justice. Caleb, now 85 years old, has driven out the Anakites and taken their cities for his own. It’s a fitting victory since the Anakites were the very giants who drove the original 10 spies back to Moses in fear. Caleb’s faithfulness and confidence in God has brought him back to this point of victory over Israel’s foe, 45 years later. God’s timing and our timing don’t always match up, but He is faithful to His promises in His own time.

Father, help me to remember that the things that naturally strike fear into my heart stand powerless compared to you. Enable me to live in confidence because of your power and promises and to step forward into challenges in hope. Amen.
