Matthew 2

Devotional:
And the star they had seen in the east guided them to Bethlehem. It went ahead of them and stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were filled with joy! (Matt. 2:9b-10).

The star that guided the wise men moved with remarkable precision, leading many today to believe it was a supernatural phenomenon: perhaps an angel or something akin to the pillar of fire that had once guided the wandering Israelites (see Exodus 13:21). The important lesson here is that God will always provide guidance – in one form or another – to those who earnestly seek Him. He may not give a supernatural sign, but He will send something — perhaps the gentle prompting of the Holy Spirit, the wise counsel of a fellow believer, or the Bible verse that keeps strangely popping up. Stay alert – you may pick up a signal at any time.
Pray it:
Father, I thank you for the ways that you prove guidance and direction in my life, particularly through your Word, through the Spirit, and through your church. Help me listen and follow those sources of wisdom so that I might discover your will in my life in even deeper ways. Amen.
