Genesis 10

Devotional:
and the territory of Canaan extended from Sidon in the north to Gerar and Gaza in the south, and east as far as Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, near Lasha. (Genesis 10:19 NLT)

The Canaanites, cursed by God (chapter 9), received the better portion of the land along the Mediterranean Sea. Now it appears they are being blessed with the best land. Sometimes things are not as they appear. The grass may look greener on the other side, but is it? Shem and Japheth’s descendants carried the blessing of the Lord, and as we read through the Scriptures, we see that God hands over the land of Canaan to Shem’s descendants, the Semites – God’s people. Have you ever wondered why an ungodly person appears to “have it all”? Have you ever considered that things may not be as they appear or how empty life would be without Jesus?
Pray it:
Father, help me to not grow discouraged or doubtful of your promises when I see those not following you prosper, but to remember your ultimate promises. May I remember what I have in Christ and the riches found in him both now and for all eternity. Amen.
