Genesis 9

Devotional:
Yes, I am confirming my covenant with you. Never again will floodwaters kill all living creatures; never again will a flood destroy the earth.” (Genesis 9:11 NLT)

God made this covenant with Noah, not because God felt He had made a mistake in flooding the earth, but because He wanted to let us know that what happened back then will never happen again. We don’t have to live with the fear that if we mess up, God will wipe out human existence. Despite how bad things may seem in the world around us, God is doing a good work. The story of the flood is a glimpse of God’s full redemption plan fulfilled through Jesus Christ. Being saved through Jesus Christ, we are given absolute certainty of our forgiveness and salvation; we do not need to worry that it will be taken away. God cares for His creation and desires for it to be very good again. Pray that God’s plan will come to completion through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Pray it:
Father, thank you for your promise to never again flood the whole earth and for your promise of forgiveness and salvation through Jesus Christ. Let me not live in fear, guilt, or shame because of your promises and the proof of them found in Jesus’s death and resurrection. Amen.
