Genesis 12

Devotional:
The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. 2 I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. 3 I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.” (Genesis 12:1-3 NLT)

This is a pretty sweet promise! “You can have all of this stuff! Oh, and don’t worry, you don’t have to do anything to earn it.” There were issues along the way, but Abram had faith in this promise, and God never faltered in keeping His promises. God’s children today can cling to His promise and know that He is a good and gracious God who has a plan to bless and save this world. Abram was an idolater, liar, and murderer (as we will see in upcoming chapters), but look how God used him! That means God can use you as you are. God asks for faith in Him and His plan. Do you believe God’s promises to be true? What is one small change you can make today to follow God’s leading in your life?
Pray it:
Father, thank you for calling me to follow and serve you in spite of the sin and failures. May I remember your grace towards me and seek to share and spread this grace to others in this world. Bless me so that I may bless others. Amen.
