Matthew 3

Devotional:
After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” (Matt. 3:16-17)

The word “Trinity” is not found in the Bible, but the concept of the Trinity appears throughout Scripture – today’s passage is a prime example. Note the joy-filled celebration of all three Persons of the Godhead at this spectacular baptism event. It is a wonderfully revealing, powerful demonstration of the strong bond, divine love, and everlasting relationship that has eternally existed between Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And, dear fellow believer, marvel at the thought – incredible as it may sound – that as a child adopted by grace into God’s family, you have been personally invited and welcomed into the Trinitarian life of celebration!
Pray it:
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I praise you for the wonderful mystery that you have revealed that we call the Trinity. Help me and my fellow believers model the unity that is found in you to a fragmented and divided world. Amen.
