Genesis 29

Devotional:
As soon as Laban heard that his nephew Jacob had arrived, he ran out to meet him. He embraced and kissed him and brought him home. (Genesis 29:13 NLT)

Out in the open land, Jacob heads over to the shepherds and asks them where they are from. The shepherds are from the land Jacob was seeking to find! In fact, his uncle’s daughter was coming toward them with her father’s sheep! His uncle then welcomes him with open arms and a loving embrace. This was no coincidence as God promised to be with Jacob on his journey to find his uncle – this was God’s providential hand. Going through life, we don’t always acknowledge God’s providential hand, and it is often not until we reflect on the past that we clearly see that God was setting things up. Are you seeking God’s will and praying for His guidance? If so, then you can trust God when He promises to guide you on your journey. What we think may be “by chance” is actually God at work in our lives.
Pray it:
Father, thank you for your promise to guide me and for the way you fulfill it. Help me recognize your providential hand at work in my life so that I might trust you more and more, giving you thanks and praise for your perfect plan. Amen.
