Genesis 37
Devotional:
Soon Joseph had another dream, and again he told his brothers about it. “Listen, I have had another dream,” he said. “The sun, moon, and eleven stars bowed low before me!” (Genesis 37:9 NLT)
Joseph had two dreams from God in this chapter. These dreams showed how he, the youngest son, would be lord over the family household. In this culture, birth order mattered, as the oldest son was always the heir to the family who would lead when the father died. Joseph’s brothers were not thrilled with these dreams and eventually planned to kill him, but they lost him instead and lied about it! They were unaware of the plan God had in motion for Joseph to save his family. Have you ever looked down on someone just because they are younger than you? Age is not a restriction — God can use ANYONE to further His will. Are you willing to let God lead you, even if it is potentially through someone younger than you? We are told to “respect your elders,” however, it’s important for elders to respect the youth also.

Pray it:
Father, thank you for being the God of every generation. Help me to learn from those who are both younger and older than I am and not to dismiss the potential contribution of a fellow believer because of their age. Amen.

I thought Benjamin was the youngest son? I’m new to in depth Bible study so I’m sure I’m missing something! lol love this devotion though, so important!
You are correct. It was supposed to say “one of the youngest” in the family. Good job.
