Genesis 41

Devotional:
The next seven years will be a period of great prosperity throughout the land of Egypt. But afterward there will be seven years of famine so great that all the prosperity will be forgotten in Egypt. Famine will destroy the land. This famine will be so severe that even the memory of the good years will be erased. (Genesis 41:29-31 NLT)

There are seasons of plenty and seasons of want. They come and go, but God is present. As we reflect on Joseph’s story, we can clearly see that God had a purpose for this famine. And we can know without a doubt that we, too, will be able to look back on our own story and see how God has worked during times of blessing and trial. What lessons have you learned from God through the years? How have you been able to be part of the body of Christ and been there for others? Maybe you’ve been a recipient of help and maybe you’ve been a contributor to the efforts of helping others. God has a specific purpose for each of us throughout every season that must not be overlooked.
Pray it:
Father, strengthen me to have joy both in times of blessing and times of trial, knowing that both can lead me to know you more and deepen my faith. Help me to be humble enough to receive help from others when I need it and bold enough to help others in their time of need. Amen.
