Genesis 21
Devotional:
And Sarah declared, “God has brought me laughter. All who hear about this will laugh with me. (Genesis 21:6 NLT)
Earlier we saw Abraham and Sarah laugh out of disbelief, but now Sarah laughs as she recognizes God’s goodness to her. God does what He says He will do and we can laugh, rejoice, and celebrate Him! Have you ever desired, dreamed of, or even been promised something that was not happening? A cynical laugh might be our response too, yet, out of faith (Heb.11) Sarah did not close the door to the possibility that God will surprise her after all. Life can be difficult, and maybe that is where you are right now. But as a child of God, He promises laughter and joy for you. Have you kept that door open to God’s surprises and work in your life?

Pray it:
Father, help me resist the temptation to cynicism and instead trust in you and rejoice at the surprising ways that you do things. Amen.
