Genesis 22
Devotional:
“Take your son, your only son—yes, Isaac, whom you love so much—and go to the land of Moriah. Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.” (Genesis 22:2 NLT)
Here we see Abraham’s faith put to the test. God promised Abraham that his descendents would come through Isaac, not Ishmael, but now Abraham is told to sacrifice Isaac. Even though he did not understand, Abraham trusted. Sometimes we do not know how strong our faith is until we are tested, and when we see our faith pulling us through, we become better prepared for life’s next trial. Although God knew Abraham’s faith, Abraham needed to know it. Is God the foundation of your being? Do you demonstrate complete trust in God through total surrender and obedience to Him? Is God testing you as a way to show you that you will have faith in Him? Can your obedience demonstrate your trust in God to the world?

Father, show me if there are places and areas of my life that I put before you and help me be wholeheartedly willing to give you everything. Help me to truly say to you, “I surrender all.” Amen.
