Deuteronomy 8

Devotional:
For when you have become full and prosperous and have built fine homes to live in, and when your flocks and herds have become very large and your silver and gold have multiplied along with everything else, be careful! Do not become proud at that time and forget the Lord your God, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt (Deuteronomy 8:12-14).

Danger! Danger! Luxuries and prosperity are intended to be blessings but often can cause us to think we have been the source of them, instead of God. God, therefore, reminded the Israelites of how He provided for them in the wilderness and how the prosperity found in the land they were receiving was from Him. Please pray that we would be a people who continue to remember, and are reliant on, God’s provisions for the coming day. May we also thank Him for how He has blessed us!
Pray it:
Father, give us this day our daily bread. Help us to remember that this bread always comes from your hand as you are the one who gives us the ability to do anything and everything. Thank you for all the blessings you have given me. Amen.
