Joshua 1

Devotional:
No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you. “Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. (Joshua 1:5-6)

The Book of Joshua begins immediately after the death of Moses. God appoints Joshua as the new leader of Israel and commands him to resume Moses’ mission of leading God’s people into the Promised Land. Joshua was probably nervous and most likely felt like he had big shoes to fill. Yet God comforted and encouraged Joshua with the promise of His presence. No matter where life takes you, or what it has taken from you, draw strength to keep going and find courage to face the unknown in God’s great promise: He is with you!
Pray it:
Father, I thank you for your promise to never leave me nor forsake me. Help me to become more aware of your presence each day in my life and to live boldly and confidently in light of that. Amen.
