Deuteronomy 19

Devotional:
“When you arrive in the land the Lord your God is giving you as your special possession, you must never steal anyone’s land by moving the boundary markers your ancestors set up to mark their property. (Deuteronomy 19:14)

Human nature is to think of ourselves before others. Sometimes we are willing to cheat our neighbors or even family in order to increase our own holdings of treasure. The Israelites had this temptation too, so God gave them this commandment concerning their boundary markers. The principle behind it still stands today and we should not seek to cheat others for our own benefit. Rather than seeking our own interest, let us seek the good of others and be so consumed with doing what is best for them in every situation that temptation would fall away!
Pray it:
Father, I confess that I have pursued my own interests at the expense of others. Thank you for the forgiveness of this sin and all sin in Christ. Empower me through the Spirit to follow Jesus in not seeking my own interests but those of others. Amen.
