Deuteronomy 15

Devotional:
“But if there are any poor Israelites in your towns when you arrive in the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not be hard-hearted or tightfisted toward them. Instead, be generous and lend them whatever they need (Deuteronomy 15:7-8).

God’s desire is for His children to share their blessings with those in need. Since God is the giver of all good gifts, we are merely sharing what He has blessed us with. Greed constricts our spiritual health, causing us to be closed-fisted around our blessings, not willing to share them. Pray that your desire to give sacrificially would increase and that our attachment would be to the Lord and not our earthly treasures. Is there someone around you to share God’s blessings with today?
Pray it:
Father, I confess that there are times that I want to hold onto money or things because I believe they are mine rather than yours. Help me remember that all my blessings are things you have entrusted me with and want me to use as you would choose rather than for me to simply hoard and consume. Amen.

Who is someone you can share a verse or thought from this passage with?
