Deuteronomy 34

Devotional:
Then the Lord said to Moses, “This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have now allowed you to see it with your own eyes, but you will not enter the land.” So Moses, the servant of the Lord, died there in the land of Moab, just as the Lord had said. (Deuteronomy 34:4-5)
Moses could have ended his life as a bitter or disappointed man because he would not enter into the Promised Land. The only reward Moses gets for all this hard and laborious work is a glimpse of the Promised Land from a distance. In showing Moses this land, God was not tempting or teasing Moses with what could be, but rather was revealing what would be. Disappointment transitions into celebration when we realize eternity with our Lord is infinitely more rewarding than anything on earth. Are you clinging to things on this earth or realizing that anything you have here is just a glimpse compared to the glory you will experience in eternity?
Pray it:
Father, I praise you for the blessings that you let me see and experience on earth. Help me enjoy them and also see them as small tastes of the greater hope that awaits me in your presence forever. Amen.
