Matthew 12

Devotional:
“Anyone who isn’t with me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working with me is actually working against me. (Matt. 12:30).

There is a war being waged in the spiritual realm between God and Satan. Jesus is saying that in this war there is no neutrality. If you have not sided with him, you will inevitably become stranded in enemy territory, vulnerable to capture by Satan and conscription into his service. Even someone as secular and distinctly unchurched as minstrel-poet Bob Dylan seems to understand and appreciate this truth when he sings: “You’re gonna have to serve somebody/Yes you are, you’re gonna have to serve somebody/Well it may be the Devil/Or it may be the Lord/But you’re gonna have to serve somebody.” Soldier, we must pray daily for defections from the enemy’s camp and recognize that the world is at war in the spiritual realm.
Pray it:
Father, remind me of the spiritual war that is raging. Deliver me from the attacks of the evil one. May your kingdom come and may your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
