Deuteronomy 11
Devotional:
“Therefore, be careful to obey every command I am giving you today, so you may have strength to go in and take over the land you are about to enter. If you obey, you will enjoy a long life in the land the Lord swore to give to your ancestors and to you, their descendants—a land flowing with milk and honey (Deuteronomy 11:8-9)!
The Israelites are about to take possession of the long-awaited Promised Land, the land “flowing with milk and honey.” There are going to be blessings from God poured out on them; God reminds them through Moses that they need to keep His commands as they do so. What a great reminder for us as well that blessings flow from obedience. At the same time, we need to remember that obedience flows from the blessings that we have already been given. God blesses and then we obey, with the result that we see even more blessing.

Father, I thank you that my salvation is not based on what I have done but on what Jesus has done for me. Help me respond to your grace in saving me through obeying your commands and find the joy that comes from obedience to your Word. Amen.
