Genesis 36
Devotional:
There was not enough land to support them both because of all the livestock and possessions they had acquired. So Esau (also known as Edom) settled in the hill country of Seir. (Genesis 36:7-8 NLT)
Reading through a list of genealogies may not be the most captivating, but we learn a lot from them. For instance, Esau and Jacob had to separate because they were rich and had many things. God blessed both Esau and Jacob with family and ownership of people, animals, and goods. They would have been a drain on the land if their clans stayed nearby one another. We also see through the genealogy of Esau that God gave him a large family. Just because Esau was not favored over Jacob does not mean that God did not have plans for him. Are there times where you feel forgotten or when you do not see the blessings you have been given because you don’t have the blessings you think you deserve? How has God blessed you? Sometimes the greatest blessings are the ones we take for granted.

Pray it:
Father, help me to continue the blessings that you have placed in my life and help me to be a blessing to the people around me, both those who know you but also others who may not yet believe in you. Amen.
