Luke 17

Devotional:
Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive.” (Luke 17:4)

Now this is contrary to what society teaches, isn’t it? If someone were to sin against you twice in one day, much less seven times, and you forgave him, society would say that you were taken advantage of or even that you were manipulated. It is not our place to decide if the repentance is sincere or not; scripture says “you must forgive him,” not “forgive him, if…”. Jesus offers us radical forgiveness and asks us to do the same.
Pray it:
Father, thank you for forgiving me in and through Christ. Help me to forgive those who sin against me, resisting the temptation of bitterness and discovering more and more the depth of your forgiveness of my sin. Amen.
