Luke 23
Devotional:
Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice. (Luke 23:34)
Hanging on the cross in complete agony, Jesus’ concern was for the people around him. We have a Savior who was merciful to the bitter end. The good news is that we can have that selfless attitude because Jesus has left us with his Spirit to live in us and help us become like him. We can pray for that Christ-like quality of being concerned about others even when we, ourselves, may be in complete agony.

Pray it:
Jesus, thank you for the forgiveness you displayed on the cross and for the forgiveness of sins you offer because of the cross. Transform me through your Spirit to be a person who forgives others as you have forgiven me. Amen.
