Acts 4

Devotional:
All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. (Acts 4:32)

As we read about the birth of the Jerusalem church, we see the unity, generosity and love abounding amongst believers. There weren’t separate groups with different views from the others, nor were there isolated new believers who did not want to be part of the “whole” church. They were all of “one heart and one soul” brought together by the Holy Spirit and their faith in our crucified, resurrected Savior. As we reflect on our participation in the church, are we deeply concerned for those who need help? Are we good stewards of our time, treasures and talents knowing that all we have belongs to God (Romans 11:36)? Do we participate in fellowship opportunities to build relationships with our brothers and sisters in Christ, or are we content being in the darkness of hidden church corners and seats close to the exits?
Pray it:
Father, I praise you for your great love for me, shown in sending Jesus for me in spite of my sin. Create in me and my church community a spirit of love and care for others that reflects and testifies to your love for us to this world. Amen.
