Acts 22
Devotional:
And I persecuted the followers of the Way, hounding some to death, arresting both men and women and throwing them in prison. (Acts 22:4)
We discover a lot about the background of the Apostle Paul when he is arrested in Jerusalem. He notes how he was trained in Judaism under the well-known Pharisee Gamaliel and persecuted Christians. When the crowd demands his death and the Roman guards plan on flogging him, we find out that Paul was born a Roman citizen. Paul was fluent in Jewish and Greek laws and customs and both of these helped his preaching and missions. Now we see he was a Roman citizen, which entitled him to legal protections unavailable to noncitizens and which, in some cases, facilitated his presentation of the message. How might your experiences, background or privileges open up doors for you to share the gospel with others or to help people better understand the power of the gospel message?

Pray it:
Father, I thank you for the unique gifts and experiences you have placed in my life. Help me to recognize how I can use these to spread the gospel and the unique calling you have given me as I follow you. Amen.
