Acts 27
Devotional:
For last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me, and he said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul, for you will surely stand trial before Caesar! What’s more, God in his goodness has granted safety to everyone sailing with you.’ (Acts 27:23-24)
While Paul and other prisoners were sailing to Rome, their ship encountered a violent storm with whirling winds. When all hope was lost (v. 20), Paul rose and told everyone that he was visited by an angel who told him he MUST stand before Caesar and that no lives would be lost on the ship. When they crashed, no one perished, even though the soldiers planned to kill the prisoners so they would not escape. Julius the centurion stopped them because he did not want Paul killed. God’s sovereignty reigns and is shown throughout this detailed story of Paul’s journey. The Holy Spirit wanted Paul in Rome and nothing would prevent that from happening. When we doubt God and His will, even in the toughest of times, how great should our thanksgiving be when the Lord’s mercy and love are shown?

Pray it:
Father, thank you for your wonderful and detailed plan. Help me to trust in it even when it doesn’t progress in the manner or timing that I would like. Amen.
