Psalms 2
Devotional:
The kings of the earth prepare for battle;
the rulers plot together
against the Lord
and against his anointed one.
“Let us break their chains,” they cry,
“and free ourselves from slavery to God.” (Psalm 2:2-3)
In our culture today, it can be difficult to stand up for Jesus. In the world’s quest for freedom, it tries to cast off the principles and guidelines set forth by God. The irony of this “worldly freedom” is that it leads to a dangerous bondage. We get tied up by cords of sin from which only Jesus can set us free. As Christians, let’s stand strong in prayer for and service to our neighbors, cities, nation and world. “Serve the Lord with reverential awe and rejoice with trembling” (Psalm 2:11).

Pray it:
Father, thank you for sending Jesus, the Anointed, and for that fact that He is more powerful than the kings of this earth. Help me serve him, finding both refuge and true happiness. Amen.
