Psalms 18

Devotional:
You light a lamp for me.
    The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness.
In your strength I can crush an army;
    with my God I can scale any wall.  (Psalm 18:28-29).

In Psalm 18, David celebrates that God has rescued him from his enemies. Verse 28 reminds us that God keeps our lamp burning and turns the darkness to light. Because this is true, we can keep going long past the point when we would have given up if our focus was not on Him. We also need to know that no matter what we are fighting, God is always before us; that is why we can scale any wall that comes our way. We need to trust God and give our darkness and walls to Him so He can shine His light and go before us to help us as we deal with our enemies. “For who is God except the Lord? Who but our God is a solid rock?” (Psalm 18:31).
Pray it:
Father, when I feel weak and find myself in dark times, may I sense your strength and light in my life to carry me not just through, but beyond and above these challenges. Help me to know that you are stronger than whatever I am facing and more faithful than I could ever imagine. Amen.
