Exodus 17
Devotional:
Moses’ arms soon became so tired he could no longer hold them up. So Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on. Then they stood on each side of Moses, holding up his hands. So his hands held steady until sunset. (Exodus 17:12).
This chapter continues themes we have seen elsewhere in Exodus with a complaining, untrusting people and a call to remember God’s victories. In this battle with Amalek, it was God who brought the victory, but He used people to help achieve the victory. He provided Aaron and Hur to hold up Moses’ hands so the victory would come. Moses could not do this on his own, he needed Aaron and Hur.
Who acts as an Aaron or Hur in your life? Who has God placed in your life to lift you up in the battles you face? Who can you thank Him for today? If you don’t think you have those people in your life, pray and ask God to reveal them to you soon.

Pray it:
Father, thank you that you don’t call me to follow you in my own strength or on my own. I thank you for the Holy Spirit that guides me and helps me, and I thank you for other Christians (specifically __________) who are like Aaron and Hur, helping me in the battles of my life. Help me to be an Aaron and Hur to others. Amen.
