Exodus 20

Devotional:
Then God gave the people all these instructions:
“I am the Lord your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery. (Exodus 20:1-2).

The Ten Commandments — God used them to tell His people how to remain faithful to Him and how to interact with each other. While not an exhaustive list, it does give great insight into how God wants His followers to live. After the Israelites wander for 40 years, Moses will remind them of the Ten Commandments before they go into the Promised Land.

Can you recite the Ten Commandments? Take some time this week to try to commit these to memory. As you do, also commit to upholding them in your life as a way to respond to God’s wonderful grace.
Pray it:
Father, thank you for these Ten Commandments and the guidance they offer of what you desire from me. Forgive me for falling short in these areas, and help me to keep them more fully and faithfully – both the letter and the spirit behind each one of them – so that you may be honored in my life and I may know you more and more. Amen.
