Leviticus 18
Devotional:
So do not act like the people in Egypt, where you used to live, or like the people of Canaan, where I am taking you. You must not imitate their way of life. You must obey all my regulations and be careful to obey my decrees, for I am the Lord your God. If you obey my decrees and my regulations, you will find life through them. I am the Lord.
(Leviticus 18:3-5)
Here we see the Lord setting His people apart from other nations and reminding Israel about His expectations of them. God had an expectation for them not to incorporate poor cultural norms into their lives but to stand apart from them, displaying His glory to the world. While Israel was being led by God and given land to develop their nation, God also expected them to impact other nations or let Him deal with them. That same expectation is upon us as followers of God. If something is socially acceptable, it does not necessarily mean it is acceptable by God. Are there areas of your life where culture has a grasp that is contrary to God’s expectations? Break them today, for our God is Lord!

Pray it:
Father, help me to not be conformed to the ways of this world but to truly be transformed through the power of the Spirit to walk in accordance with your ways. Use your transformative work in my life to testify to your power and draw others to know and glorify you. Amen.
