Proverbs 1
Devotional:
Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. (Proverbs 1:7).
This first chapter of Proverbs informs us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of true knowledge. This fear acknowledges God’s good intentions and makes us receptive to wisdom and knowledge. There is, however, a clear warning that sin is enticing. While the ways of the world may look good, intriguing, and promising, they will pull us down into greed for unjust gain. We are called to listen to God’s voice of wisdom where we will be secure, without fear of disaster. Does the fear of the Lord mark your life?

Pray it:
Lord, cultivate within me a proper fear of you so that I might walk wisely. I confess that there are times when my sinful nature wants to turn away from your instruction. Forgive me and protect my heart and mind with your truth so that I might live securely. Amen.
