Numbers 30

Devotional:
A man who makes a vow to the Lord or makes a pledge under oath must never break it. He must do exactly what he said he would do. (Numbers 30:2).

Chapter 30 deals with vows. Stated simply, vows are to be taken seriously and adhered to except in very limited circumstances. While one sees that there are some instances where vows may be overruled, the emphasis is that a vow is a solemn promise that must be kept; vows are not to be broken. We make vows with each other, commitments that we sometimes fall flat on. But know this — God takes vows seriously. Seriously enough, in fact, that He devoted an entire chapter in His Word to their keeping. How about you? Do you keep to the commitments that you’ve made? Do you put as much importance on vows as God does?
Pray it:
Father, help me to be a person of my word, to do what I say and say what I do. Thank you that you always keep your word and that I never need to fear that you will break or fail to keep your promises. Amen.
