Matthew 5
Devotional:
God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied. (Matt. 5:6).
Be honest – do you constantly hunger and thirst for righteousness? When your yearning for God begins to fade, do not ignore or deny that feeling…admit it. Ask the Lord to rekindle your passion for him. Consider A. W. Tozer’s prayer: “O God, I have tasted Your goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, the Triune God, I want to want You. I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still.” Friend, how could our gracious God turn away such a humble, honest prayer?

Pray it:
Father, help me to hunger more and more for righteousness, recognizing the distasteful and rotten stench that sin really is and the abundant goodness that is found in walking in your paths. Amen.
