Exodus 15

Devotional:
Then Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the Lord:
“I will sing to the Lord,
    for he has triumphed gloriously;
he has hurled both horse and rider
    into the sea. (Exodus 15:1).

At the beginning of Chapter 15, Moses stops to celebrate what God has done for the people of Israel. He writes and sings this song of praise. Unfortunately, I don’t think we do celebrations well. If you’re like me, when God grants victory somewhere, my default is to just move on to whatever is next. I think the Song of Moses (as well as other places in Scripture) does well to remind us that we need to take time to celebrate what God has done.

What is your favorite song of praise? What song connects your heart and your soul to thanking God? The challenge for today is to find a time and space where you can listen to that song and sing it out with everything you have. Celebrate God!
Pray it:
Father, I thank you for the gift of songs and music that can remind us of who you are and what you have done. Bring both old songs to mind and also write new songs in my heart so that I can celebrate you and your work each day. Amen.
