Proverbs 25

Devotional:
Don’t demand an audience with the king or push for a place among the great. It’s better to wait for an invitation to the head table than to be sent away in public disgrace. (Proverbs 25:6-7).

We should always avoid self-exalting. Even as we humble ourselves before the Lord, we should also humble ourselves before others. When a man or a woman correctly humbles themselves before God and rulers, they may be asked to advance to a higher place. This feels much better than placing yourself at a high setting and then being re-sectioned to a lower presence. Are you seeking to promote yourself, or are you a humble servant who is more concerned about serving others than gaining honor or titles?
Pray it:
God, I may not be where I want to be, but I’m thankful for where you’ve placed me. Open my eyes to the possibilities around me to serve you and help me be faithful with whatever you have placed in front of me. Amen.
