Acts 9

Devotional:
But the Lord said, “Go, for Saul is my chosen instrument to take my message to the Gentiles and to kings, as well as to the people of Israel. And I will show him how much he must suffer for my name’s sake.” (Acts 9:15-16)

The Apostle Paul was first called Saul of Tarsus. Before being the greatest missionary in history, he was present at Stephen’s stoning, and he arrested and imprisoned Christians throughout Judea and Samaria. But as we see throughout the Bible, the Lord uses whom He wants to do His will. When Jesus instructs Ananias to meet Saul in Damascus, he is apprehensive as Saul’s infamy is well known but follows God’s command, meets Saul, and lays hands on him to restore his sight. Jesus then reveals God’s plans for Saul to proclaim Jesus’ name and suffer greatly in many different ways in many different places. Do we recognize when the Lord puts someone in our path to care for or minister to? Do we judge them harshly and allow our own feelings to cloud our commission?
Pray it:
Father, thank you for using the most unlikeliest people to make your name known and for reminding me that you can use anyone. Remind me of your power to use who you choose and to do amazing things that I would have never dreamed of myself. Amen.
