Acts 13

Devotional:
Then Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and declared, “It was necessary that we first preach the word of God to you Jews. But since you have rejected it and judged yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we will offer it to the Gentiles. (Acts 13:46)

As Paul’s first missionary trip begins, we see a pattern as he enters a city. Paul would seek large crowds or preferably, the Jewish synagogue. His rabbinic training would have been on display, showing how the Old Testament reveals that the promised Messiah was indeed Christ Jesus. The gospel message was often rejected by the Jews, but it was God’s will for them to hear it first. Their rejection did not stop Paul from preaching, as he would then turn to preach to the Gentiles. We often may speak and give witness of our faith in Jesus and our new lives – wherever we may be. Sometimes these conversations are welcomed but often it can be the opposite. How do we respond when we preach the gospel and it is rejected? How should we respond?
Pray it:
Father, thank you for the way that you reveal your plan in all the Scriptures. Help me to see that truth more clearly as I read your Word and explain it to others so they might know and accept the amazing truths found in your Word. Amen.
