Psalms 10
Devotional:
Why do the wicked get away with despising God?
They think, “God will never call us to account.” (Psalm 10:13)
Why do people renounce God? Pride? Idolatry? Greed? Hurt? Any or all of these might be reasons people wall up their hearts and reject God. While those who renounce God might often trouble those who love God, we can’t forget that God sees what the wicked do (verse 14) and that God is king forever and ever (verse 16). Indeed, this Psalm assures us that one day God will call the wicked to account (verses 14-15) and He does care for the afflicted (verses 17-18). The day is coming when “mere humans from the earth may terrify [people] no more.” Remember this promise on those days when God seems far away and evil seems to triumph.

Pray it:
Father, as I see evil on this earth, help me to remember that you also see it and don’t overlook it. Help me remember that the day will come when you bring justice on the earth – and to live justly and faithfully until that day.
