Exodus 23
Devotional:
“You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but on the seventh day you must stop working. This gives your ox and your donkey a chance to rest. It also allows your slaves and the foreigners living among you to be refreshed. (Exodus 23:12).

Three thoughts to consider from today’s chapter:
- We need to be active in living the way God wants us to. The idea of returning our enemy’s donkey (verses 3-4) shows that we not only need to live God’s way when we are with people, but also when there is no one there to see how we act. We need to enter into situations bringing and showing God’s love actively.
- The need for celebration is again presented (see 23:13-17). How are you doing in celebrating since we talked about it earlier in Exodus?
- God again promises the Promised Land (23:20-33). I’m guessing the Israelites didn’t forget about it; after all, the Promised Land was their destination, but sometimes we all need reminders. Which of God’s promises do you need to be reminded of today?
Pray it:
Father, help me to be honest and just in my life, a blessing to others through my actions and also through my example. May the weekly day of rest you command remind me of my need to always rest in you and enable me to grow in faith and dependence upon you. Amen.
