Exodus 30

Devotional:
“Collect choice spices—12 1⁄2 pounds of pure myrrh, 6 1⁄4 pounds of fragrant cinnamon, 6 1⁄4 pounds of fragrant calamus, and 12 1⁄2 pounds of cassia—as measured by the weight of the sanctuary shekel. Also get one gallon of olive oil. Like a skilled incense maker, blend these ingredients to make a holy anointing oil. (Exodus 30:23-25).

God does not want our second best. As the guidelines for the incense is given, God calls for a pure incense — to be used only for this purpose. In the same way, God wants our best. He doesn’t want our leftovers – what we feel we can spare, or whatever we have on hand. He wants our best. Our best time, talent, and treasure. Are we giving Him our best or whatever is convenient?
Pray it:
Father, I confess that I often give you the leftovers rather than my firstfruits. Help me to give you all of my heart and to truly put you first and foremost in all areas of my life this day – because you deserve it. Amen.
