Leviticus 23
Devotional:
(“These are the Lord’s appointed festivals. Celebrate them each year as official days for holy assembly by presenting special gifts to the Lord—burnt offerings, grain offerings, sacrifices, and liquid offerings—each on its proper day. These festivals must be observed in addition to the Lord’s regular Sabbath days, and the offerings are in addition to your personal gifts, the offerings you give to fulfill your vows, and the voluntary offerings you present to the Lord.) (Leviticus 23:37-38)
Here we see God giving the Jewish people feasts (alongside the Sabbath) and setting expectations for each one. Four feasts took place in the spring and three took place in the fall. There was a rhythm and a reason for each feast. Each feast was meant to remind them about God and His grace towards them. Part of this celebration was a Sabbath, where they were not to work but rather to rest. We do not necessarily need to celebrate these particular feasts today, but they are good reminders of the fact that we need to pause to remember and celebrate what God has done for us in Christ. Of course, this is not just something we do on special days but that we are to do each day. May this day be a pleasing offering to our Father, Savior and Counselor.

Pray it:
Father, remind me this day of your great work not just in the lives of the people of Israel but in my life as well so that I can joyfully celebrate in my heart and proclaim to others the great things that you have done. Amen.
