Psalms 50

Devotional:
But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God.” (Psalm 50:23).

Our covenant with God no longer requires animal sacrifice to atone for our sins. Jesus completed that work on the cross, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have a sacrifice to offer. Even here in the Psalms, God is showing us His profound desire for our thanks. The sacrifice we offer to glorify the name of the Lord is thanksgiving for the mercy and grace He showed to us through His Son. Is your life one of God-glorifying thanksgiving? Do you spend more time asking God for your own fleeting desires or thanking Him for His love-lavishing gift of salvation?
Pray it:
Father, I thank you for so many things, but above all, for the mercy and grace that you show and give us in Jesus. Tune my heart to continue to offer thanksgiving for all that I see you do this day and cultivate in me a spirit of thanksgiving. Amen.
